Summary of Duties
Orders, stores, organizes, delivers, and maintains the supplies and equipment necessary to support the clinical and support operations of the hospital.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinates purchase of medical supplies, office supplies, forms, nourishments, and equipment.
- Receives the supply shipments and unpacks and stores the supplies in designated areas.
- Restocks the unit supplies to maintain an adequate stock for daily use.
- Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies including the development and adjustment of par levels.
- Monitors receiving function to ensure facilities receive ordered items in a timely manner.
- Receives return authorization numbers, packages, and assures defective or unwanted merchandise is promptly returned for a credit.
- Makes weekly environmental inspection rounds around the facility and requests maintenance repairs as indicated.
- Inspects the unit refrigerators and discards any food items as indicated.
- Maintains all storage areas in good order.
- Coordinates bed repairs with the clinical engineering department.
- Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on all chemical products used in the facility.
- Performs all necessary administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submits to management as required.
- Assists in annual budget preparation.
- Assists Safety Officer as directed.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. College preferred.
Experience
Minimum of two years in materials management or hospital central distribution required. Experience in medical/surgical supply environment preferred.

- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

- Must be able to transport an object intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
