The NTC Installation Technician at Nomad GCS is responsible for NTC hardware assembly, wiring termination, configuration, installation, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure the NTC system is properly installed and functioning in Nomad’s Connected Mobile Operation’s Centers (CMOCs). This includes working with computers, switches, cables, tablets, PLCs, and related hardware components while adhering to safety and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITY:
Plan & Analyze:
- Learn the installation and maintenance requirements for NTC hardware and wiring termination.
- Review installation plans and basic procedures with team members and supervisors.
Coordinate:
- Collaborate with team members to complete installations effectively.
- Discuss tasks and progress with supervisors regularly to ensure alignment.
Execution:
- Perform basic NTC hardware assembly, wiring termination, and configuration under supervision.
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting NTC systems to identify issues.
- Follow instructions to document completed tasks.
- Build and/or modify embedded software for micro-controlled hardware (Modules) and sensors, software for Control Systems (Central Node), and software/communication libraries and communication protocols.
Test:
- Test and verify installed software to ensure that it meets specifications and requirements, analyzing and recording test data.
Inventory:
- Assist with tracking hardware inventory, document hardware usage, and ensure min/max reorders are conducted on a timely basis.
- Ensure that the correct hardware is installed in the assigned project.
Document:
- Document test results.
- Create, prepare, and write systematic documentation needed to support, reproduce, and troubleshoot issues with each respective product.
- Maintain copies of current and revised software for modules, sensors, and central nodes on the Nomad GCS files server.
Support:
- Help resolve basic NTC hardware malfunctions with guidance from senior technicians.
- Provide support during hardware delivery and basic setup processes.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure that NTC hardware assembly, wiring termination, and configuration tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain proper documentation of all installation, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Proactively identify and escalate issues to supervisors when tasks cannot be completed as planned.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to meet project requirements.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards during all phases of installation and maintenance.
- Track and manage hardware inventory to ensure project requirements are met without delays.
- Provide timely updates on project progress and task completion.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing Nomad to clients and team members.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:
- Familiarity with basic tools and diagnostic equipment for assembly and troubleshooting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regular use of hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and crawling.
- Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Assistance required for anything heavier than 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
- Must have the physical stamina to work in awkward positions and stand for prolonged periods.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Partially environmentally controlled indoor area with temperatures fluctuating between 60°F and 100°F, typically maintained around 70°F.
- Occasional outdoor work required.
- Exposure to noise levels ranging from low to loud; safety hearing devices provided as needed.
- Possible exposure to household and commercial chemicals; adherence to safety protocols outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS) required.
- Mandatory wearing of OSHA-approved safety eyewear and closed-toed shoes at all times on the production floor.
- Use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators or protective coveralls, may be necessary for specific tasks.
- This role involves fieldwork and may require travel to installation sites. Flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evening or weekend work, may be necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in telecommunications or a related field.
