Nomads, an independent Portland-based outdoor and travel apparel store, is currently hiring a part-time sales associate starting in September. 11-6 Friday and Saturdays with additional hours. Salary will be $18 - $21 per hour based on experience with a 30% discount on full price items in the store including apparel from Patagonia, Kuhl, Prana, and other carefully curated brands.
Store Associate Position Description
- Maintain overall mood/ambiance of the store. Demonstrate to customers that, despite other tasks that may need to be accomplished, our priority is friendly, professional, knowledgeable, high-quality customer service.
- Assist customers by welcoming them into the store, helping them find products, checking sizes (and back stock), providing technical and functional product information (i.e. materials, washing instructions, use), starting fitting rooms, etc.
- General store support: stamping boxes/bags, steaming new inventory, clearing fitting rooms, and arranging items in size order
- Maintain visual presentation of the sales floor by taking on the following tasks: Vacuuming, dusting, glass cleaning, hanger management, folding merchandise, straightening, and maintaining neatness in merchandising of clothing, accessories, bags, travel gear area, cash wrap and front of the store areas.
- POS System Management: Become proficient on Lightspeed POS - process sales and refunds (cash, credit, gift card, etc.), and basic troubleshooting to maintain an accurate, balanced register
- After sufficient training, associate may be asked to complete opening and closing procedures on the POS and check in inventory from shipments
- Monitor and advise of low stock of office and retail supplies, including but not limited to handled bags for customers, gift boxes for holidays, supplies for printers, ink pads, stamps, etc.
- Monitor and advise on low inventory and back stock of retail items, including:
- --All Clothing and Accessories, Travel Gear and Accessories (i.e. Sea to Summit, Eagle Creek) Wallets, Bags, Packs, Tote Bags, Shoulder Bags, ( i.e., Flowfold, Sherpani, Thule, Cotopaxi, Black Diamond)
- --All Accessories are typically purchased from Liberty Mountain. With experience, the associate may be involved in buying and ordering with approval from Manager
- Prefer a candidate with outdoor, adventure, or travel experience and a willingness to learn about the technical and functional aspects of clothing.
