What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthotist position at NOMS Healthcare?
Job Summary:
Performs comprehensive orthotic and /or prosthetic patient care. Includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, and implementation of treatment plan in coordination with referring physicians. Assessments of patients with impaired movement or musculoskeletal abnormalities in order to determine functional intervention. This role may occasionally require travel to other office locations to support business needs.
Essential Functions:
1. Obtain patient history prior to initiating exam
2. Evaluation & consultation with referring physician relative to patient functional goals
3. Assessment of patient gait and biomechanics
4. Recommend applicable devices to support treatment goals
5. Structural evaluation and measuring for orthotic devices of patients
6. Fitting and dispensing of orthotic devices to patients
7. Reassessment of fit and patient outcomes
8. Promote compliance and adherence to practice billing guidelines
9. Participate in quality improvement activities including staff training
10. Assists in care and maintenance of office equipment.
11. Other duties as assigned

Education and Work Experience:
1. High School Diploma Required
2. Bachelor’s Degree
Certification and Licenses Required:
1. Current Orthotist License in the state of Ohio.
2. ABC Certification preferred but not required.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Well-lighted, well-ventilated, adequate space. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to medical office setting.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies.
