More Than a Bed (MTaB) is a not-for-profit faith-based organization that believes all children should not only have the basic essentials provided, but so much more. Through the generous gifts of the greater Tucson community, we are doing just that.
In 2023, we provided 576 new beds and served 2958 children with clothes, shoes, toys and household items. Over 367 new families were served (out of 1067).
Established in 2014, our organization is stable and growing, guided by our Executive Director (ED) and a seasoned board of directors.
We’d like a creative, goal-oriented and relationship-strong individual to join our team as a Development Manager. This is a full-time position that will combine skills and commitment for raising funds as well as assisting with the expansion of MTaB’s vision to phase II, providing youth with opportunities to build resiliency, confidence and the ability to envision a positive and successful future.
Position Overview:
The Development Manager reports to the ED and is responsible for working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Marketing Manager and the Board of Directors to secure funds in support of More Than a Bed’s mission through philanthropic gifts, sponsorships and grants. This position is responsible for implementing annual fund activities, cultivation and serving a portfolio of donors and sponsors and overseeing management of constituent data. This individual is expected to conduct activities in alignment with MTaB’s mission, vision and values, while meeting established goals. The Development Manager is an ambassador for More than a Bed and responsible for building relationships.
What you will do:
• Work to build thriving relationships with stakeholders: families, volunteers, donors, board of directors, community organizations
• Implement MTaB’s annual fund strategies focused on entry, mid-level and high-level donor cultivation and retention
• Research and selectively choose prospective grant sources, write and submit grant applications in collaboration with other team members and ensure grant stewardship and reporting
• Develop and manage project plans to successful outcomes
• Provide copy writing support for cross-channel fundraising activities
• Participate in and support fundraising and community relations events
• Drive capital campaign initiatives
• Establish and maintain systems and processes for tracking donor interactions
• Manage donor data system and ensure data integrity
• Produce accurate reports and provide analysis of fundraising data
• Develop key relationships for program development as vision expands to phase II
• Maximize organization’s impact at various events and with marketing opportunities
• Interface with Board of Directors, providing updates and presenting annual plan
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in fundraising with responsibility for implementing revenue generating initiatives independently
• Experience in identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects including individuals and corporations with a record of measurable results
• Proficiency in the use of CRM software including management reporting and data analysis
• Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills
• Excellent story-teller, sharing the whole vision while telling stories that capture the wonderful impact that MTaB is having in the lives of our constituents
• Experience working with engaged volunteers
• Community-building skills, working within and between organizations for the benefit of the mission
• Thoughtful, organized and structured approach to problem-solving and ideation
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude and calm demeanor in a fast paced, high-volume environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a friendly, proactive and problem-solving approach to work
• Proficient in digital tools, with ability to learn new programs as needed
• Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgment
• Exceptional interpersonal skills in written and spoken communication formats and professional appearance and demeanor
• Work cooperatively with a diverse group of people and a wide range of personalities and skill levels
• Full-time hours required. Weekends and evening hours as necessary. Hybrid opportunity with both onsite and remote work, while maintaining the needs of the organization
Who you are:
Top candidates will be experienced fundraising generalists with strong donor relations, database management, a knowledge of marketing and communications skills.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in closely related field or equivalent experience
• Ability to thrive in a mission-driven environment with strong values and culture; passionately committed to children and families, full embracing More Than a Bed’s mission, vision and strategic direction

Salary commensurate with experience – Range $55,000 to $60,000
