The Level II Heat Treatment Technician will be responsible for the following actions/tasks:
- Set up and operate or tend machines, such as furnaces, baths, flame-hardening machines, and electronic induction machines that harden, anneal, and heat-treat metal.
- Read production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, and heat cycle requirements for objects to be heat-treated.
- Record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for specified times.
- Instruct new workers in machine operation.
- Fluent in adjusting controls to maintain temperatures and heating times, using thermal instruments and charts, dials and gauges of furnaces, and color of stock in furnaces to make settling determinations.
- Able to repair, replace, and maintain furnace equipment as needed, using hand tools.
- Able to mount fixtures and industrial coils on machines, using hand tools.
- Capable of troubleshooting set ups on components before and during the heating process.
- Fluent in all aspects of flow of document submittals for project.
- Capable of handling laptop computer operation of heat cycles.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs in order to complete chart documentation and associated document files necessary for projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualification(s)
- High school Diploma or G.E.D.
- Proven knowledge of performing furnace, pre and post weld heat treatment operations.
- Familiar with applicable welding codes, i.e. ASME, API, AWS, etc.
- Knowledgeable with OSHA’s General and Construction safety industries.
- Able to pass FBI and company drug/alcohol testing, Fit for Duty testing, Ergonomic testing and a motor vehicle check.
Required Experience
- Proven experience of performing furnace, pre and post weld heat treatment operations.
