JOB SUMMARY:
Serve as the general dentist to provide dental health services to the infant, youth, adolescent, and adult population in accordance with stated policies. Work is reviewed in terms of overall efficiency and adequacy of the dental service rendered. This position is full-time, 5 days per week.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collect data pertaining to patient assessment in a complete and systematic manner.
2. Provide and manage direct patient care, including diagnoses and treatment for the well, medically compromised and special health care needs for specified patient population.
3. Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medication, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed dental conditions.
4. Perform examinations, makes diagnosis and prescribes dental treatment plans for patients.
5. Provide general dental care according to Indian Health Service guidelines.
6. Perform all types of general dental care services that involve patient management problems.
7. Prepare, document and maintain all patient information in charts, complete in timely manner for processing charge claims.
8. Provide guidance and direction for dental assistant in the performance of their position to include, chair side, ordering supplies, and coordinating external and internal referrals.
9. Provide oral health care in a culturally sensitive manner to Tribal member of the Nooksack Indian Tribe and Tribal community.
OTHER DUTIES:
Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:
1. DDS or DMD degree from dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
2. Requires 3-5 years’ work experience as a general dentist in an outpatient setting or general dentistry work experience with adolescent and youth population.
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION:
1. Experience working with Native Americans desired.
REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment.
- Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current and valid unrestricted Washington State Dental License.
- Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver's License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe (Must Provide Driving Abstract at time of hire).
- Current ACLS certification.

- The standard work week is 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday (occasionally may have to work evenings)
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and frequently required to talk and listen.
- Sitting for extended periods while at a desk or in meetings.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, and telephone system
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance occasionally.
- Typical office setting with environmentally controlled conditions.
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to listen, understands customers, and has the ability to translate rules, regulations, and policies to clients so they understand the issues/problems.
- Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations with composure.
- May have to walk/drive between office locations under a variety of conditions.
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip from assigned work areas.
