Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Accountable for daily preparation of food items needed for food production in the kitchen. Works at expected pace while accurately following all menu and recipe specifications.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports Directly to: Lead Cook, Sous Chef
Supervises Directly: N/A
Other Important Contacts: General Manager, Human Resources, Tribal Gaming Agents, Casino Supervisors and Managers, and casino guests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes customer service as a priority.
- Prepares and produces items needed in daily production of food in the kitchen, paying special attention to food safety.
- Maintains proper rotation of product following the first in, first out policy.
- Complies with company and department policies and procedures while practicing positive customer and employee relations.
- Provides accurate and timely documentation and reporting of department activities and status as requested.
- Maintains a professional and neat appearance of work area.
- Maintains a professional and neat appearance and represents the company in a positive manner.
- Maintains confidentiality of company and player information.
- Because of the Casino’s commitment to our guests and customer service, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Obtain and maintain a valid Non-Gaming Nooksack Tribal Gaming Agency License.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Food Workers Card or an Indian Health Services Food Training Card within 14 days of initial employment.
- Proper knife handling and knife skills as applied to job duties and responsibilities.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works in noisy, hot and sometimes cramped workspace.
- Fast paced and demanding as business levels require.
- Routinely uses commercial kitchen equipment such as knives, mixers, ovens, grills, etc.
- May work in loud, crowded, and cigarette smoke-filled casino environment.
- Works various shifts and days including nights, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stands or walks for extensive periods of time.
- Lifts and carries objects up to 50 lbs.
- Routinely makes repetitive motions.
- May work long or irregular hours.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of general kitchen operation.
- Knowledge of proper rotation of foods and food safety.
- Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Skill in proper cooking techniques and knife handling.
- Skill in hand/finger dexterity.
- Ability to work in sometimes difficult and fast paced work environment.
- Ability to change plans often and as a moments notice.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in demanding situations.
