What are the responsibilities and job description for the Islamic Studies Teacher position at Noor-Ul-Iman School?
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in the study of the core Islamic sciences, including but not limited to fiqh, sira, tafsir, aqida, hadith studies, and spiritual enrichment in a way that endears students to the religion and encourages them to set off on the path of seeking knowledge.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for planning and delivering effective lessons to students of all ages in order to develop their knowledge of Islam
- Creating suitable lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing feedback to ensure that students are achieving their learning goals
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe, warm, and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Teaching standard-based instruction with proficiency
- Teaching with an appreciation for the richness of Islamic Heritage and Culture
- Knowledge of best practices and implementation of differentiated instructional strategies
- Fostering continued growth of established school culture
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students'
- Demonstrate high level of knowledge and skill in subject area
- Organizes and effectively communicates class/course objectives, standards, and requirements for successful achievement, e.g., syllabi, tests, specific tasks
- Provides guidance and assistance to students as needed in order to ensure appropriate assimilation of the course content in an effort to support student success and achievement.
- Instructs students in the principles of Islam, incorporating faith into daily instruction and conversation to help students nurture the love for their religion.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within subject level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
