Purpose

- Develop detailed project plans
- Define project scope, timelines, objectives, milestones
- Allocate necessary resources to accomplish assigned project goals
- Proactively address and help resolve issues to keep these projects on track
- Ensure all project workflows are properly documented for future reference and compliance
- Project Management software proficiency:
- Utilize project management tools such as Microsoft Planner, MS Project, Asana, or Trello to ensure efficient project tracking and data management
- Train team members and other Noorda-COM faculty on these tools and ensure adoption within the department
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including but not limited to IRB, IACUC records, reports, research data, BSL-2 lab, and vivarium governance records
- Prepare and present post-project evaluations and lessons learned to leadership
- Stakeholder Communication Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for the Associate Dean for Research and other departmental stakeholders regarding assigned research projects. Support the Associate Dean for Research and Senior Director of Biomedical Research in decision-making processes related to departmental priorities
- Address project-related challenges, making quick and informed decisions to keep progress on track and communicate solutions for challenges to stakeholders
- Provide regular updates to leadership and cross-functional teams regarding assigned project progress, roadblocks, and achievements
- Foster strong relationships within the Noorda COM research community and other external partners, including those involved in the BSL-2 lab, vivarium, and research data governance initiatives
- Ensure assigned projects adhere to all institutional, regulatory, and legal guidelines
- Identify and mitigate risks related to research projects, particularly those involving the IRB, IACUC committees, research ethics, the BSL-2 laboratory, and the vivarium

- Project Personnel Management
- Coordinate personnel resources across departments and external partners, ensuring that research projects are adequately staffed (including those related to the BSL-2 lab and vivarium)
- Manage workloads, ensuring projects meet deadlines and quality standards
- Collaborate with HR, Sponsored Programs Office, and finance for workforce planning, resource planning, and budget management to manage assigned project resources
- Lead cross-functional teams involved in research projects, providing guidance and mentorship
- Foster collaboration and effective communication across teams
- Contribute to team development and performance through constructive feedback
- Budget and Finance Management
- Manage budgets for assigned research-related initiatives, including symposia, hackathons, the BSL-2 laboratory, vivarium, and data management systems
- Collaborate with the finance team and research stakeholders to track expenditures and ensure financial objectives are met
- Ensure all assigned projects are completed within established budgetary guidelines
- Data Management and Governance
- Oversee the implementation and management of data governance and management systems for the BSL-2 research laboratory, vivarium, and the academic medical center. Ensures practices comply with Noorda-COM Data Governance policies
- Ensure that data policies, procedures, and compliance standards are adhered to across all assigned projects
- Work closely with IT teams and stakeholders to implement secure, efficient data management systems.
- Operational Leadership for Other Research Initiatives
- Oversee committee workflows to ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards. Initial committee oversight will include the IRB and IACUC committees

Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred areas of study business, management, health sciences, engineering, or related field
- A Master’s degree or an advanced certification such as CAPM or PMP certification is preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of project or product management experience. Equivalent experience in business operations, strategic planning, risk management, or change management would be considered
- Proven track record of managing all aspects of a project lifecycle
- Experience guiding a project through the complete Project Life Cycle: project initiation, project planning, project execution, project monitoring and controlling, and project closing.
- Ability to complete projects according to scope, budget, and timeline
- Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills to navigate intricate project complexities and deliver successful outcomes
- Management skills, including team-leading and building, decision-making, and task delegation
- Problem-solving skills to be able to resolve any issues to ensure the completion of the assigned project
