POSITION TITLE: Field Safety Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Site Safety Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Implement policies and procedures for general safety and health at the contractor level in the field. Assist in adapting and implementing policies and procedures as they pertain to project requirements, safety and industrial hygiene, environmental protection, and ergonomics to ensure that company objectives are met.


FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  1. Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.
  2. Utilize and improve the Nooter Management System (NMS) for effective and efficient fulfillment of requirements from customers, regulators and NCC values, policies, objectives and targets.
  3. Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontractor, vendor, craft and NCC personnel.
  4. Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project. When obstacles arise, employ sound decision making/problem solving skills to resolve the issue.
  5. Assist departments in developing action plans to reduce or eliminate occupational illnesses and injuries through the use of a pre-job hazard assessment. Upon completion of the hazard assessment, develop and implement procedures to control the hazards. These procedures include but are not limited to:
  6. Substance abuse program.
  7. Employee medical evaluations.
  8. Respiratory program.
  9. Fall protection program.
  10. Confined space program.
  11. Process safety management.
  12. Incentive program.
  13. Emergency and evacuation program.
  14. Monitor and evaluate jobsite safety on a daily basis to identify unsafe conditions and procedures, performing a follow-up to ensure they are corrected.
  15. Coordinate and perform new hire orientations and other necessary training in compliance with federal and local regulations. Document and maintain all records of training provided.
  16. Assist project supervision in daily implementation and enforcement of jobsite safety rules.
  17. Monitor activities of subcontractors.
  18. Help organize material to be presented during subcontractor, supervisory or craft toolbox meetings.
  19. Perform both formal and impromptu safety and health audits and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  20. Interface with customer and subcontractor safety representatives to coordinate safety and health efforts.
  21. Assist in all incident investigations and develop a "lessons learned" from the incident.
  22. Manage and report all first aid cases being sent for medical treatment.
  23. Report all jobsite activities to the Safety-Risk Manager, while receiving daily direction from the Project Manager.
  24. Travel to and remain at jobsite continuously until released by the Project Manager.
  25. Travel outside the local area, by air and car, when required to maintain position's essential functions.
  26. Participate in the regional office Safety Committee and carry out assignments as necessary.
  27. Perform additional assignments per the direction of the Safety-Risk Manager.

Physical Demands: Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Reach for, handle and manipulate objects. Use hands and arms to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Ascending the construction, entering confined spaces and successfully passing a pulmonary function test to be eligible to wear a respirator.

Climb ladders and stairs of customer facilities.


Visual Acuity: Visual activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

See well (either naturally or with correction) and focus clearly on objects at varying distances.


Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Employee is subject to inside and outside conditions, including high and low ambient temperatures.

Employee is subject to hazards of operating at elevated levels.

Employee will regularly wear a respirator or fall protection harness and lanyard. Employee will occasionally be subject to noise levels above 85 dbl and will be required to wear ear protection.


POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or Associate Science degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience preferred. Working knowledge of Federal OSHA 1910 and 1926 Standards.

Experience: One to three years' experience in a safety-related position in construction, refining, petrochemical or chemical industry.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: (Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.)

Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including: Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint); cost tracking software (McCosker, ViewPoint); internet use and innovation. The ability to learn other software, if required, with company-provided training.


License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

Valid state-issued driver's license.

Current TWIC.

OSHA 30 Construction.
