Summary:

The Estimator will be responsible for assessing project requirements, analyzing costs, and providing accurate and competitive bids for a variety of underground utility services, including pipe cleaning, hydro excavation, CCTV inspection, sewer maintenance, and potholing. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the construction and pipeline industry.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities described here are not a comprehensive list, and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by the business demands and/or the direction of the Director of Estimating. 

 

Project Review and Scope Analysis:

·       Review project plans and specifications to understand the scope of work.

·       Quantify materials, labor, and equipment needed for the project.

Cost Estimation and Pricing:

·       Obtain quotes and pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.

·       Analyze historical data and industry trends to inform cost estimates.

·       Create detailed cost estimates, including itemized breakdowns of costs.

Client and Team Communication:

·       Present estimates to clients and project teams.

·       Revise estimates as needed based on changes in project scope or conditions.

Bidding and Proposal Support:

·       Provide support during the bidding process by preparing accurate and competitive bids and proposal packages (RFP).

·       Review and assess cost estimates for accuracy.

·       Prepare detailed cost estimate reports.

Bid Evaluation and Submission:

·       Perform evaluation of bids and provide pricing in a timely manner.

·       Review and complete bid forms, order bonds, and ensure they are within the given specifications.

 

Qualification Requirements:

Education

·       High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field            preferred.

Experience

·       Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or a related role within the construction, underground              utility, or pipeline services industry.

·       Strong knowledge of underground utility construction, including pipe cleaning, hydro excavation, CCTV inspection, sewer                      maintenance, and potholing processes.

·       Experience with estimating software is highly preferred.

·       Experience with wastewater underground systems and S.U.E. (Subsurface Utility Engineering) is highly preferred.

·       Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Problem-Solving Abilities

·       Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and ensure project success.

Software Proficiency

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

·       Proficient in estimating software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and fumes or airborne particles.

 

Employment onboarding/ training will take place in our Corporate Roseville office. After completion of our onboarding/ training program the position will transition to our Sacramento office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
