What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at NOR-LEA GENERAL HOSPITAL INC?
Performs registration and scheduling for patients. Obtains and verifies patient information regarding Medicaid, Medicare, Sliding Scale, Workman’s Compensation and Private insurance. Processes and files admission records and acts as a liaison with patients, family members or responsible party. Performs duties involved in receiving payments from patients, accounting for and balancing daily cash. Performs other tasks as requested. Answering multiple incoming calls with a positive, and helpful attitude. Contact the providers office when patients call in late to make necessary scheduling adjustments. Answer phones in a professional manner, and routing calls as necessary. Rescheduling patients when needed. Answering, forwarding, and screening phone calls. Sorting and distributing mail. Provide excellent customer service. Floats to offsite clinics when needed
- Schedules appointments, obtains infectious disease screening, loads and verifies patient demographics information, pre-register patient account
- Utilize EMR smart phrases, for refill modules and patient messages
- Inform patients by providing them with necessary information for day of appt and any other guidelines/directions to ensure smooth visit.
- Next day, appointment confirmation and same day no show patient contact with reschedules
- Answer incoming calls within a 2-minute time frame if not already on the phone, this ensures timely communication and responsiveness to patient needs
- Load and verify/update patient telephone numbers
