Purchasing Manager
A location based position at corporate headquarters in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Reports to the President. Travel required, as noted in the position responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate and manage purchasing agreements for raw materials.
- Collaborate extensively with the Helena, Arkansas manufacturing plant to provide guidance and oversight on plant-issued POs, while directly issuing POs for unique raw materials.
- Consult with Peter Greven GMBH (parent company) purchasing head on shared raw materials.
- Coordinate logistics for imported raw materials and prepare forecasts based on sales projections.
- Prepare usage reports for major raw materials.
- Stay informed on commodity trends (used in major raw materials) through research, conference attendance, and market analysis; publish monthly pricing and supply/demand trend reports.
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers, including site visits.
- Participate in plant Quality Management Meetings (remotely).
- Coordinate efforts to establish raw material specifications and manage complaints from the manufacturing plant regarding raw material quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field.
- 3 years of experience as a purchasing manager. Chemicals purchasing preferred
- In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, strategies and best practices.
- Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimisation and negotiation techniques.
- An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to relocate if necessary.
