We are recruiting for a Saw Operator to join our team. You will be responsible for accurately maintaining the raw material inventory and preparing the proper material for each production order. General duties are related to the production operations of the ordering and cutting various types of steel as specified and maintain compliance with Expander Americas, Inc.’s Quality Manual.
As our Saw Operator, your mission will be to accurately maintain the raw material inventory and prepare the proper material for each production order. Your profile consists of the following areas of experience, knowledge, and responsibility:
Inventory: Daily review the planning module in NAV24 and generate purchase orders for material shortages from approved suppliers. Monitor outstanding purchase orders for estimated delivery dates and receive material into inventory in Navision. Conduct semi-annual audits of raw material inventory to maintain accurate inventory counts. Maintain and create item cards in Navision as needed for new dimensions or types of raw material. Post a daily journal entry in Navision for the total inches of raw material used for each production order. NOTE: Specific material inventories may need to be separately marked and maintained for special customer specifications.
Supplier Evaluation: Maintain records of on-time delivery for approved suppliers. If not previously negotiated, verify price quotes are acceptable before confirming material ordered. Always verify that all material received meets the specifications required. Review each material certification received with every order and assigned a lot number according to the material type and sequence number from the material logs.
Cutting: Review all drawings for inaccuracy and omissions in NAV24 and notify the Engineer and Quality Control of any discrepancies. With each production order determine the correct material as suggested by NAV24, calculate the appropriate length as required by the quantity ordered, and program the saw accordingly. Remove all burrs, bindings, and any adhesive compounds from the raw material before placing them on the “cutting shelf” as noted in NAV24. Place the completed cart in the staging area for the next operation.
Testing: Schedule the appropriate material test by an outside supplier, as required for a component or customer specifications.
Supplies: Generate orders for cutting blades and routine supplies as needed through designated vendors or submit a requisition form for new items.
Maintenance: Perform maintenance on all equipment as recommended by the manufacturer and maintain timely records of all maintenance as completed. Report the need for any repair needs or scheduled maintenance check by outside vendor.

All employees are expected to maintain a clean work area free from dirt, metal shavings, oil/grease/fluid spills, personal debris, etc. for a clean and safe work environment and comply with all OSHA standards.

Requirements & Desired Characteristics
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Willing and able to work a 4 day/10-hour shift schedule, Mon-Thursday
- Willing and able to operate overhead cranes and a forklift
- Must be able to read, understand and follow engineering drawings.
- Work requires the ability to lift and manage parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted or use of cranes for parts weighing over 50 lbs.
- Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and develop relationships.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, including diligence and multi-tasking.
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a plus.
- Proficient computer skills such as emailing, record keeping, and MRP software
- Must have the ability to work independently in a demanding environment and be willing to learn and improve in all skill areas.
