The Agronomy Sales Specialist is a crucial team member, acting as the growers' first contact line. This role will involve building and maintaining strong relationships with current and potential customers, allowing for continued sales growth. This position will not only drive growth for the company as a whole but will also deliver on our purpose of “Assisting our Customers in Achieving Maximum Net Return per Acre.”
Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate strong relationships with customers to learn how to effectively identify and meet their needs, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor.
- Regularly engage with customers to provide personalized solutions, encompassing customer sales calls, service visits, and input pricing while providing sound agronomic recommendations in seed, crop nutrients, and crop protection.
- Amplify our presence in the seed market with customers and potential clients.
- Educate growers on the advantages of each product, emphasizing their potential to yield maximum net return per acre.
- Utilize knowledge among teammates to customize recommendations for individual customer needs.
- Enhance current knowledge of our agriculture products and services by participating in regular in-the-field training events and engaging in professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Customer Care team to ensure accurate account management.
- Collaborate with managers and peers to develop and execute strategies for market share expansion.
- Partner closely with the operations team to ensure prompt service.
- Collaborate with the location manager to ensure a cohesive unit supporting the custom application business, which involves generating work orders, conducting field inspections, and prioritizing the application schedule for customer fields.
- Engage in community events in order to boost brand visibility and foster relationships with current and potential customers.
- Contribute to the agronomy internship program by offering our interns guidance, support, and directions.
Required Qualifications
- Preferably possesses prior sales experience, agronomic knowledge, and business expertise.
- Knowledge of application equipment, precision placement equipment, and product application procedures.
- Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exhibits a high level of coachability and welcomes constructive feedback.
- Self-motivated and proficient in working independently and as part of a team.
- Possesses strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable with initiating cold calls to potential customers.
- Holds a valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company standards. A valid CDL is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
Critical Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, agricultural science, or a related field is preferred but not required.
