Position Summary:
As a North American Nacelles Plant HSE Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing, and evaluating safety equipment promoting the HSE culture, and fostering good practices and safe behaviors in the Nacelle production site. Support includes coaching, teaching, and training plant personnel on safe operating behaviors and the design, development, and implementation of safety and risk control programs. Functions as a subject matter expert and consultant to help internal clients build sustainable loss improvement processes within their operations. The HSE Manager will also be responsible for promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
Develops, implement, and maintain core Industrial Safety and Hygiene policies, procedures, and systems based on ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to simplify and streamline the Nordex USA Manufacturing, LLC. program requirements.
Support in the harmonization and implementation of the new Management System for Nacelles.
Provides regulatory analysis, advice, and expertise for emerging, proposed, and existing regulations at Federal, State, and Local levels
Represents Nordex USA Manufacturing, LLC when dealing with external organizations and regulatory bodies.
Assesses reports and data compiled by contractors, consultants, government agencies, and others to determine environmental impact and ensure compliance with technical specifications or regulatory and/or permit requirements.
Provides support for preparing regulatory reports, or other compliance submittals.
Assists with managing (including the screening and selection) contractors assigned to support various tasks within the plant. As part of risk management responsibilities, review the work product of contractors, and identify needs to meet project expectations.
Participates in professional, industry, and/or regulatory organizations and associations, as required, to help achieve Nordex’s strategic goals in shaping legislation, state and federal agency policies/guidance, etc.
Conducts audits of the production plant to determine compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
Collaborate on new industrialization projects and developments
Monitor the HSE Alerts, Notices, and Best Practices implementation
Monitor the proposals for HSE improvement actions
Support to sites on topics related to HSE when needed.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
Conduct regular safety and environmental audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement
Develop and implement training programs for employees on HSE policies and procedures
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions
Maintain accurate records of all HSE activities and incidents
Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans
Manage the HSE budget for the North American Nacelles facility
Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certification preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE management in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to HSE
Experience with programmatic (Compliance and Performance) audits/inspections including record keeping, and action-item resolution
Comply with all applicable regional and local HSE regulations, including customer-specific guidelines.
5 years of progressively responsible experience in a Corporate Safety Department and wind farm experience is desirable.
Advanced technical knowledge of Industrial Safety disciplines (General Industry, Construction, Behavior-Based Safety, etc.) related to the construction and operation of power generation projects, and related U.S. federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Able to complete OSHA 500 or 501 trainer – Preferred already authorized.
Proven Industrial Safety leadership skills, and an ability to coach and lead environmental efforts.

Ability to positively represent the Safety process to internal and external stakeholders.

Must be capable of positively influencing the management team when necessary.

Proficient in the following application programs: Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat Standard.
Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable.
Ability to travel to domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required with the ability to obtain a passport.
Must be able and willing to travel (Approximately 30%)
Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
