What are the responsibilities and job description for the ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR position at Norfolk County Agricultural High School?
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, teach and evaluate assigned courses that align to meet the standard of the Massachusetts Career and Vocational Technical Frameworks and industry standards for Environmental Science. Perform those tasks associated with the teaching profession in general. Become especially responsive to the needs of students enrolled in Norfolk County Agricultural High School and make a constructive effort to serve the needs of the Norfolk County Agricultural High School as an organization.
CONTENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have experience in a environmental and natural resource fields and be expected to assist students in developing skills for working in careers association with environment science.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified or certifiable as a Chapter 74 Environmental Science Instructor by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary
Graduate of an accredited college with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
Experience and knowledge in Environmental Systems, Natural Resource Management, Energy Technology and Sustainability, Environmental Technology and related fields.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize and present instructional material within the assigned area(s) of responsibility. Develop and implement various assessments to gauge student achievement.
Participate in professional development activities that align with school-wide educational goals.
Perform all required duties of an educator (supervision, attendance taking, student-parent conferences, and department/staff meetings, etc.).
Maintain up-to-date and accurate records and reports necessary for the maintaining of individual student progress and the effective management of school programs.
Demonstrate appropriate application of interdisciplinary instruction, collaborate with colleagues in developing curriculum, have flexibility with content instruction and be adaptable to change.
Participate in the delivery of related student services. (IEP meetings and adapting instruction to IEPs and 504 plans).
Maintain records of all safety instructions including performance tests, written exams and demonstrations.
Maintain and foster relationships with industry professionals.
Mentor students in the development of their career exploration.
Develop and facilitate courses to address the MA Vocational Frameworks
Ability to safely handle and restrain a variety of lab animals: mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils and rabbits.
Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills related to lab animal science.
