What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUBSTITUTE TEACHER position at Norfolk County Agricultural High School?
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher and perform tasks as outlined in those plans, respond to the needs of students, and maintain a positive learning environment.
Accurate recording of attendance in every class including study halls, including notation of all tardies and dismissals.
Prompt reporting for all duty or supervisory assignments.
Submission of a daily report to the teacher, if necessary, describing any problems encountered (including students’ names, period of day, etc.) and other important information.
Refer any major discipline problems to the Dean of Students immediately.
Substitutes are expected to work well with others in a caring, positive and constructive manner. Substitute teachers can expect to interact at times with students, teachers, school administrators, parents and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A two or four year college degree is desirable but not required. A high school diploma is a requirement for this job, along with 4 years of work experience.
Work experience in a vocational subject offered at Norfolk County Agricultural High School desired but not required.
Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a caring, positive, and constructive manner.
Dependable in attendance and productivity. Perform high quality work consistently.
Exhibit a positive work ethic.
Be a role model for students and the general public at large.
Demonstrate confidentiality in personnel and student matters.
Demonstrate proficiency in properly dealing with problems as they arise.
Ability to work independently as well as a team with other staff members.
Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
Must be able to follow lesson plans as assigned.
Substitute Teacher Information
Substitutes will be notified of any assignments by the sub coordinator via text or phone call.
Substitutes may be contacted as late at 9:30 p.m. and no earlier than 5:30 a.m. if a last minute sub assignment is needed.
Most times and when possible, substitutes will be notified well in advance of an assignment.
The sub coordinator will let the substitute know the subject area to be covered and what time you are expected to arrive at the school.
The school day for substitutes begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Subs will report at 7:30 a.m. most days.
