What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Grain Merchandiser position at Norfolk Crush?
The Sr Merchandiser will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day trading and logistics activity of the plant. This position will help the Director of Trading and Risk Management achieve company goals while maintaining a strong relationship with customers, both external and internal. The Sr Merchandiser will also help train other merchandisers and originators to deliver the best customer experience to the farmer and other commercial companies. Come join our growing team today!
Responsibilities
• Monitor positions and logistics for all commodities being received and shipped from the location and effectively communicating with operations staff to insure plant efficiency
• Assist in the execution of short and long-range business objectives under the direction of the CEO and Director of Trading and Risk Management
• Be involved in the community, attend events put on by local organizations as well as company functions that are used to build stronger relationships in the community and in the community
• Comply with and follow governing trade rules and regulations (NGFA/NOPA)
• Work with internal partners to obtain company goals and objectives
• Build a strong customer base that will help you the individual, as well as the company, achieve KPI’s and financial goals
• Supply chain management which involves incoming feedstock, outgoing finished products as well as processing aids and other inputs.
• Rail car and transportation management, billing, scheduling and communicating logistics with internal and external customers
• Build the company brand through meetings, social media, community events
Qualifications
· Ability to develop new territories that will help achieve company targets
· Experience in the soybean crush industry or like experience
· Knowledge of state and federal regulations along with NGFA and NOPA trade rules
· Works well in a fast-paced environment
· Has an entrepreneurial mindset
· Has the ability to work well with cross functional team members
· Ability to travel within territory as well as occasional overnight travel
· Onboarding of new customers
· Manage relationship with other grain companies as well as grain grading company
· Knowledge of grain accounting software, Microsoft office, Railroad billing software, and other software as needed
· Strong understanding of grain merchandising, originations, freight spreads, hedging and risk management
