What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Brake Operator 2nd Shift 2:30pm-11:00pm position at Norfolk Iron & Metal Co.?
What your title will be:
Press Brake Operator
Here are some things you'll be doing:
- sets up and operates power press brake to bend, punch, form arc, straighten metal plates, sheet metal and structural shapes to bluep4rint or sketch specification provided by the customer
- selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed, by using shims
- turns setscrews or bolts to fasten the clamp bar that holds dies in position
- Turns adjustment screws to set specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal as indicated by calibrated scale
- set the laser safe
- operate a hoist or crane to position the workpiece for alignment into the brake
- depresses pedal to activate the ram that bends or cuts the metal. Sets stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces or to perform multiple operations.
- push, pull, lift or carry material to position on the bed.
- lift material while the material is braking.
- read blueprints, work orders, and drafts as designed by the customer.
- separate sheets by a spring or other separating device.
- count and record finished goods inventory for shipment.
- stack and assemble bundles of finished material and place in finish goods inventory.
- Utilize the banding machine and crimper for banding finished material.
- Must mark or attach tags or labels for shipment.
- operate an industrial truck and assist in changing of batteries and fuel in the industrial trucks.
- use a sledgehammer or hand tools for correcting material that may be damaged by work in process.
- use band and bolt cutter, crowbars and other hand tools to perform the essential job functions
- place scrap iron into a container and will transport scrap material into a roll-off container.
- read a tape measure, square, wheel gauge, micrometer and protractor
- clean the work site area by using broom, rags, or cleaning compounds and will assist in proper housekeeping practices.
- weld, torch, drill and notch and operate other equipment within the processing work site.
- perform other duties specified by supervisor.
- follow the ISO Quality System.
