Basic Functions:
Serve patients by greeting and assisting them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts. Ensure that all necessary paperwork is prepared prior to a patient being seen by a nurse or Doctor or appropriate personnel. Conduct all necessary follow-up on clinical and business paperwork relating to patient visits. Work effectively with other departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Register patients for examination by collecting/verifying patient information, insurance and other essential information
- Politely answer telephones in a timely manner to schedule appointments, take messages, forward calls to appropriate personnel and handle questions according to policies and procedures
- Prepare charts for office visit in the EMR. Expedite patient care by reviewing charts for needed information
- Enter co-pays received in the billing system and balance monies entered at the end of each shift
- Handle other paperwork as needed
- Phone patients regarding appointment reminders and missed appointments, charting the appropriate information in the patient’s chart
- Perform other relevant duties as requested by Physicians, Nurses, Clinic Manager or Supervisor
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Computer experience required
- At least 6 months of customer service experience required
- Must have a strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Strong organizational skills preferred
- Ability to work well with others, including the general public
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
- Work in varying degrees of temperature (heated or air conditioned)
- This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
- Position is largely sedentary; however, some filing is required. Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary is required. The employee must occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
