Primary Purpose :
Directs, supports, and participates in activities associated with maintaining and improving intermodal lift equipment to provide safe, efficient, economical and reliable equipment to support intermodal operations.
Principal Duties :
- Establishes and oversees NS' intermodal assets maintenance policies and compliance system wide
- Analyzes, supports and improves NS' equipment reliability and availability
- Provides technical expertise to enable prompt return of equipment to service
- Manages issues related to electrical, control, hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Identifies machine improvement opportunities and implements solutions
- Acts as subject matter expert on intermodal equipment
- Maintains and updates electronic work order system
- Leads or assists troubleshooting remotely and on-site
- Develops and establishes alternative solutions
- Establishes working relationships
- Performs terminal audits and inspections
- Provides technical training as needed
- Position requires seven day a week responsibility, emergency call-outs, and frequent overnight travel when assistance for troubleshooting is required
