Job Duties
Norfolk State University seeks to fill a 9-month instructor position with 50% course release time as a Technical Director & Theatre Generalist.
The Instructor Responsibilities :
- Teach courses in Stagecraft & maintain regular office hours.
- Supervise all scenery construction and the scene shop.
- Train all students during lab hours in the shop.
- Be available as needed during evening and weekend rehearsals and productions.
- Serve as carpenter, scenic charge, technician, and crew chief for all productions & events presented by NSU Theater Company.
- Adhere to and participate in the development of production timelines.
- Communicate construction progress and lead load-in, set-up, and strike.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all scene shop tools and equipment.
- Serve as a technical assistant for all occasional speaker and panel event activity in Brown Hall Mainstage and Studio Theaters.
Integral to this position is the demonstration of practical initiative; respectful, courteous and cooperative relationships; affirmative, efficient and ethical working practices.
