Join Our Team as an Experienced Shop Foreman at Norfolk Truck Center!
Are you a skilled leader with a passion for diesel truck repair? Norfolk Truck Center is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead our talented team at our 401 Copeland Drive location in Hampton, VA! The main responsibility of the position includes ensuring that repairs are done correctly, efficiently, and safely by qualified technicians and that the service department maintains a consistently high level of customer service.
Norfolk Truck Center is a proud dealer of International, Battle Motors, and Dennis Eagle Trucks, as well as Cummins Engines and Eaton Transmissions. We provide OEM training courses — both online and in-person — and have manufacturer-required, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment.
Our Service Department operates a single shift from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, ensuring consistency and work-life balance for our team. We offer:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ensures that all repairs are assigned to technicians properly trained to perform specific repairs, according to employees’ competence, abilities, and shop capacity.
- Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
- Monitor repair progress and address any deviations in completion time.
- Work to ensure every repair is timely and within budget, keeping our customers satisfied.
- Provides technical support for technicians when necessary.
- Monitors shop conditions, including cleanliness, safety, and the condition of shop equipment.
- Monitors technicians’ daily productivity and shop production to encourage continuous improvement.
- Maintain open communication with management team regarding job status, updates, and changes.
- Will need to open the shop prior to tech arrival, and be the last one to leave to ensure all techs have left.
OTHER DUTIES
Operational Oversight
- Maintains high quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Interacts with service advisors for planning of repair orders, as well as ensuring that service work in progress is meeting expectations.
- Ensures repairs are charged out correctly.
- Accounts for all repair order documents; ensures that none are missing and are all processed correctly.
- Reports problems to the Service Manager and/or Fixed Operations Director.
- Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compliance and Safety
- Understands and keeps abreast of, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-To-Know, etc.
- Represents Norfolk Truck Center professionally — a tech uniform will be provided.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- 3 years of experience in diesel truck shop
- 3 years in a leadership role or service dispatch role
- Customer service and leadership qualities
- Exceptional problem-solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills
- Driver’s License required, CDL a plus
- Proficient with computers and basic office applications
- Familiarity with dealership management software (like CDK) is preferred
