Job Overview:
The Material Planner is responsible for planning assigned raw materials, components and supplies in support of the NDS sales plan, while managing inventory levels, and in compliance with Purchasing policy and procedure. The Material Planner is also responsible for supporting new product introductions when required.
Responsibilities:
Ensure on timely delivery (OTD) of purchased materials to Lindsay plant in support of NDS sales and production plan.
- Utilize MRP, as well as, other analysis tools and individual judgment to determine the proper scheduling of materials to achieve NDS service metrics, MPS and inventory plans.
- Placing, scheduling and monitoring Purchase Orders all while using established pricing and be in compliance with other company policies and procedure.
- Track internal inventory levels as well as vendor inventory levels to ensure consistent flow of purchased materials to the plant.
- Reports and risk meeting delivery schedule to team and to Supply Chain Manager.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure proper documentation is available for timely vendor payments.
- Ensuring and maintaining correct master data in Syspro.
- Performs other special projects as assigned.
- Education: College Degree preferred with emphasis in Business Administration or related subject.
- Experience: Three (3) plus of material planning experience
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems required.
- Lean/continuous improvement experience.
- Licenses/Certifications: APICS or ISM certification a plus.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of inventory management, customer service and quality assurance in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills along with good verbal and written communications skills are required.
- Use a service mentality for internal and external customers.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word).
