What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at NORMA Precision Inc?
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an organized, experienced Buyer to join our growing team. The incumbent will research and negotiate the best price and quality for our supply needs, establish relationships and serve as a representative of the company when negotiating contracts and building vendor and supplier trust as well as track and monitor the delivery and confirmation of all materials and supplies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working within the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products
- Assisting the Sr. Supply Chain Manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials on a regular basis
- Effectively communicating with the management team to ensure all orders are accurate
- Create purchase orders for packaging, labels, manufacturing supplies and other printed materials
- Confirm proper order/transactional execution, data entry and reporting of assigned products and services
- Review purchase requisitions and convert them to purchase orders with commitment dates
- Timely review order confirmations from vendors, update correct pricing in the system
- Follow up on back orders and past due orders and communicate with end users the status of their orders and expected delivery dates
- Work with internal customers and suppliers to resolve issues related to purchased materials, including product/material/service quality, invoicing, and returning
- Partner with internal customers as well as suppliers to develop and initiate process improvements
- Work with suppliers to improve lead time along with cost, quality, and delivery
- Maintain and update ERP system information
- Sourcing sample and conduct market research for new product
- Conduct negotiation of category items assigned
- Other duties may be assigned based on business needs and conditions
Qualifications / Requirements
- Firearms and ammunition field knowledge preferred.
- Business or Technical Bachelors Degree preferred
- A minimum of 1-2 years of purchasing or buying experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in MRO.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and provide exceptional customer service
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Proficient with MS Office and working knowledge of ERP systems
- Ability to work independently as well as under immediate supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Standard office environment in a temperature-controlled office, with normal air contaminants, such as dust, typically found in an office setting.
- Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.)
- Position requires occasional, prolonged periods of standing and walking distances inside the plant.
- Type and read on a computer; communicate in person, on telephone, through written correspondence. May require standing, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling.
