What are the responsibilities and job description for the Broadcasting Internship - Summer 2025 position at Normal CornBelters?
Summary
The Normal CornBelters (NCB), a summer wood-bat collegiate baseball team, are members of the Prospect League. The CornBelters are owned and operated by Play9 Sports, a sports management group. Play9 Sports also operates the Kernels Collegiate League (KCL), a wood-bat collegiate league, which plays a 30-game league solely at the Corn Crib in Normal. The Normal CornBelters, Kernels Collegiate League, and the Corn Crib are looking for Broadcasting Interns to join their team for the upcoming 2025 season.
Broadcasting Internship Roles
- Play by Play/Color Commentary - serving as the on-air talent for a live-streamed video broadcast of each CornBelters home game through PLTV
- Broadcast Production - responsible for the production and sponsorship fulfillment of all CornBelters home game livestreams
- Journalism - writing thoughtful team content for digital platforms, including the team website
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing rosters and game notes prior to all home games
- Operating the production of a live-stream video broadcast during each CornBelters home game
- Providing play-by-play and color commentary for PLTV broadcast
- Producing feature stories, game recaps, articles, and op-ed pieces that can be featured online
- Interacting with other Normal CornBelters departments to provide a cooperative, fan-oriented focus for all games
Competencies and Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
- Thoroughly knowledgeable about the game of baseball
- Self-starter who is motivated to build new programs and exceed expectations
- Night and weekend work required
Compensation
- This is an unpaid position. Internships are eligible for college credit opportunities.
