Job Summary and Qualifications
Seeking a Medical Assistant or LPN for our practice with the clinical expertise, integrity and commitment to assist in providing effective nursing services as required by the provider and/or medical director, and ensuring all patients receive the highest quality care. Responsibilities:
- Maintain and run the physician clinic workflow – checking in patients and gathering the appropriate patient documentation/information for EMR.
- Assist Physician in patient rooms / Assist Physician with special procedures as requested, i.e. take vital signs, weight. Set up room for procedures, prep the patient and gather appropriate instrumentation.
- Assist in the transfer of patients safely from wheelchairs, stretchers, etc. to and from exam table. Requires lifting, pulling, pushing and supporting (patients may weigh up to 250 pounds or more).
- Facilitate and schedule or draw all laboratory studies on patients, maintain accurate documentation on this data.
- Record history and physical data under direction of the Physician.
- Assist patient in special care including dressing, catheters, etc.
- Maintain and order supplies as needed for exam rooms and nurse’s station.
- Assist in Patient education and counseling along with the RN- document in medical records.
- Inventory and stock medication samples as needed.
- Disinfect exam rooms, furniture, instruments, etc. as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records on inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Prepare prescriptions, refills, and maintain accurate records in the EMR.
- Assist with scanning and transfer of data to medical records.
- Schedule Diagnostic tests- Send orders- Give patient instructions.
- Stay abreast of patient status and alert the Physician of problems.
- Liaison with other Health Care providers and Pharmacy personnel.
- Reports any questions or concerns related to Medicare billing compliance.
- Technical assistant duties as staffing during slow clinic times.
- Check in and check out patients, making sure appropriate paperwork is obtained, signed and scanned.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program OR current Medical Assistant certification is not required, but preferred.
- Minimum of 12 months in direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
