Graphic Designer / Creative Services Specialist
Position Summary : Provides creative and / or graphic support and is responsible for ensuring all deliverables created align with district and school brand standards. Responsible for the maintenance of the district website including all school webpages.
Essential Duties : Works with a variety of internal customers to evaluate graphic needs and to determine printing services to be rendered.Plans, schedules and prioritizes graphic requests.Designs and prepares graphic art from conception to final art. Includes but not limited to : signs, brochures, newsletters, banners, pamphlets, letterhead, logos, maps, certificates, programs, electronic presentations, etc.Inspects and reviews incoming jobs for printability and quality end results.Prepares illustrations for reproduction and other visual presentations.Operates computer equipment and programs assigned to the department to produce final artwork.Maintains digital artwork files.Recommends equipment and software needs.Coordinates web functions, monitors web activities, incorporates new technologies into websites, and enhances existing websites.Reviews, spell-checks, error checks all web content prior to and after release, to maintain high level of quality of the district website. Plans for regular updates of pages to maintain timeliness of data, performs backups and ensures user accessibility to the site.Works with and trains school webmasters at each school site to oversee and maintain school websites.Ensures compliance with applicable legal requirements and District policies on web site usage, security, and standards.Acts as a resource person to staff on website capabilities and limitations.Provides guidance to the communications assistant regarding website management needs.Provides excellent customer service to all levels of users and encourages timeliness and accuracy of web page information and resolution of problems.Works with network personnel on issues of hardware / software that affect the web site.Serves on District or department committees as assigned and / or approved.Keeps abreast of technological advances in the field and be able to identify areas of use in the organization.Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the department / division during peak periods when there is an overload of duties, or fill in when an individual is away from the workstation.Assist with printing services for the district (business cards, envelopes, poster campaigns, mailers).Works with NPS print shop to ensure all materials printed adhere to brand guidelines.Act as brand champion and assist with verifying school apparel adheres to brand guidelines.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and / or Abilities Required) :
Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, art, design or related field.Two (2) years of relevant experience.Basic knowledge of office protocol, office equipment and computers.Ability to effectively express ideas, instructions and concepts.Ability to speak and write clearly.Ability to learn and utilize software programs and systems in the performance of regular duties.Communicate and model a high level of professionalism and expertise for departmental staff.

Salary Schedule : Support Off Scale - commensurate with experience

Successful performance of the job requires good customer service / people skills to resolve problems and provide information as requested. It requires following safety guidelines and policies to reduce accidents or injuries to oneself. It requires following school district dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns. Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving are important to the success of the position. An incumbent should be comfortable interacting with the general public and news media at all times in a confident and friendly manner.
