Job Description
The Registered Clinical Dietitian provides specialized nutritional assessments and ongoing care for patients in an acute care setting. This role involves educating patients and staff about nutrition, utilizing knowledge in various subspecialty areas such as diabetes and oncology, and ensuring compliance with state licensure requirements.
This position requires a valid dietitian registration and ongoing professional development to stay current with nutrition practices and research.
Responsibilities
- Provides initial nutrition assessment of patient condition.
- Provides ongoing reassessment and follow up care.
- Provides nutrition education services for patient and staff.
Qualifications
Education:
- Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN).
- Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.).
Experience:
- Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility.
Licensure/Certification:
- Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment.
- Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire).
