What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - FT - Nights position at Norman Regional Health System?
Overview :
Norman Regional Hospital ICU cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions. NRHS ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award winning advanced stroke care. We maintain a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures / diagnosis seen in ICU include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. The ICU also provides care to other critically ill patients- including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. An ICU RN is highly skilled to rapidly assess a patient’s condition and intervene with immediate attention as needed. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals. The RN should understand and employ patient safety and harm prevention tools.
Comprehensive and inclusive training and for new graduate RN. 12 week orientation with a designated preceptor.
Responsibilities :
RN essential functions include, but are not limited to :
- Assessment / reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
- Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy
- Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions.
- Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed.
