Salary Range: Hourly from $45.05 to $72.08; Annually from $93,713 to $149,940

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Dean of Health Science provides administrative management and leadership for the Division of Health Sciences in the Academic Affairs Division of the college. This currently includes programs in Dental Hygiene, Exercise Science, Public Health, Healthcare System Technology, Community Health Worker Navigator, and Nursing. The Dean of Health Sciences serves on the Deans’ Council and Administrative Council, and reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
The Dean of Health Sciences works in a collaborative manner to provide leadership and management in planning, accreditation, curriculum development, faculty support, student support, internal and external communication, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and infrastructure. This position involves collaboration with higher education partners, health care industry and workforce partners, and regional K-12 partners on joint efforts to support the programs in the portfolio of the division. The dean also leads and manages healthcare related opportunities with the college’s Continuing Education and Customized Training (CECT) division to build our regional market service and responsiveness to workforce needs
The position requires the ability to establish and maintain productive, collegial and professional working relationships with the college community and the college partners in the service area. A thorough understanding of budgeting, supervision, faculty support, evaluation, short- and long-term planning, and the post-secondary education environment is needed along with an understanding of the academic disciplines represented in the division.
The Dean of Health Sciences will directly contribute through individual and divisional efforts to meet the college’s strategic goals, which include achieving racial equity in educational outcomes, achieving associate
degree or baccalaureate transfer completion rate of 50% or better for degree-seeking students, and supporting and sustaining a pervasive institutional culture that is culturally responsive and service oriented.
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
  • Master’s degree in a discipline within the health division from an accredited institution
  • At least five (5) years of related experience in a teaching and learning environments with supervisory responsibilities
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives and fostering a culture that is culturally responsive, equity-minded, and service-oriented
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex, collective bargaining environments
  • Ability to provide broad, collaborative leadership and lead constituencies through consensus and trust-building
  • Ability to evaluate programs, policies, procedures, and processes with an equity lens and student-ready framework
  • Commitment to the college’s mission, vision, and values
Preferred Qualification
  • Doctorate degree in a discipline within the division, higher education, leadership or health care education from an accredited institution
  • Experience managing and leading direct reports
  • Experience in nursing education and an active nursing license in Minnesota
  • Knowledge, skill, and experience with simulation and clinical education
  • Experience in program level accreditation
  • Demonstrated understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy to meet the needs of our historically marginalized students, including students of color, first-generation students, and students from lower socio-economic households
  • Expertise in strategic and operational planning, curriculum development, staffing, budget management, and other activities as listed in the position description
  • Proven success in fostering collaborative working relationships; ability to communicate and work with faculty and staff from a variety of backgrounds
  • Evidence of highly developed and creative intercultural communication, organizational, conflict management, and facilitation skills
  • Proven experience with information technology
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating measurable equity and inclusion goals and implementing plans to achieve them
  • Experience working in a collective bargaining environment
