Job Summary
Normandy Schools Collaborative is seeking an experienced Dance Coach that will be responsible for leading and training a team of high school dancers to perform at school events, competitions, and other public performances. They will also be responsible for organizing and planning practices, selecting and choreographing dances, and teaching dancers technical skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive dance program that aligns with the school`s goals and objectives.
- Teach dancers the fundamentals of dance, including technique, choreography, and performance skills.
- Select appropriate music and choreograph dance routines for various performances, including competitions, school events, and public performances.
- Plan and coordinate practice schedules, ensuring that practices are productive and efficient.
- Attend and supervise dance competitions and other events, providing guidance and support to the team.
- Communicate regularly with dancers, parents, and school administrators regarding program goals, schedules, and expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of team performance and progress.
- Ensure that all team members are in compliance with school and MSHSAA policies and guidelines, including academic eligibility and behavior standards.
- Motivate and encourage team members to develop their skills and achieve their goals.
- Collaborate with other coaches, staff, and school administrators to ensure the success of the dance program and the overall school community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and/or MSHSAA Requirements for Athletic Coaches Special
Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience coaching dance teams, preferably at the high school level.
- Strong technical dance skills, including experience in a variety of dance styles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire dancers to achieve their goals.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of safety and injury prevention techniques.
- Ability to pass a background check and comply with school policies and regulations.
