Medical Assistant

TITLE : MEDICAL ASSISTANT / TECHNICIAN

SCHEDULE : FULL TIME MONDAY- FRIDAY EARLIEST START TIME 6 : 45AM

8.5 HOURS / DAY

PAYRATE : $18-$21(BOE)

POSITION TYPE : TEMP- PERM

LOCATION : KINGSTON, NY

POSITION SUMMARY :

The medical assistant is responsible for the cleaning and processing of endoscopes and accessories.  He / she also assist the physician and with Endoscopy procedures and patient care.   He / she also ensures instrumentation is available for use when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. High school educations or equivalent.

2.  Previous experience in Endoscopy preferred but not required.

3.  The ability to work well with others and take instruction.

4.  Current BLS or the desire to obtain.

5.  The training and ability to maintain endoscopes properly.

6.  The experience to assist the physician with procedures in the Endoscopy setting.

7.  The ability to care for patients before and after the procedure.

JOB CONDITIONS :

1. Some exposure to cleaning agents and chemical disinfectants. Protective equipment is available and room air is filtered.

2. Extensive standing, periodic pushing and pulling, bending and walking.

3. May be exposed to patients with communicable disease.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

1.  Clean, test and decontaminate all endoscopes and accessories.

2.   Maintain an aseptic technique and environment for Endoscopy.

3.  Assists in-patient positioning and biopsy / polypectomy during procedure.

4.  Cleans and restocks Endoscopy rooms, reprocessing and other areas as needed.

5.  Assists, per qualifications and CPR Certification, with emergency procedures under the direction of the physicians.

6.  Seeks advice or guidance as needed.

7.  Participates in quality assurance and incident reporting.

8.  Functions as a team member.

9.  Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.

10. Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established

Endo exp. preferred, BLS preferred, IV experience

Salary : $18 - $21
