Job Description
SEASONAL REGISTRAR
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
To perform a variety of clerical & supervisory tasks and assist patrons with questions, problems and concerns. This position is a part-time II, non-exempt position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Answers telephone calls appropriately in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Handles customer service calls, situations, complaints, etc.
- Processes program registration for Recreation and Early Care & Preschool Academy (Summer Camp only)
- Processes registrations at the Main Office, Fitness Center, NRC-East or any other Park District location as needed
- Conforms to all staff policies and procedures as outlined by the superviso
- Handles light typing and performs related work as required, and handles special projects upon request.
- Interacts closely with Administrative staff and Main Office support staff.
- Uses and maintains various machines (computers, adding machine, photocopier, camera equipment, FAX, etc.)
- Treats public complaints and concerns with utmost attention in a courteous manner.
- Pays strict attention to housekeeping of work areas.
- Responds to emergencies in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Reports necessary problems encountered to supervisor in timely fashion.
- Records accurate and complete reports of accidents and vandalism in and around Park District venues.
- Maintains good customer relations with all Fitness Center attendees.
- Promotes a positive attitude among staff members and patrons.
- Assists in answering phone calls for the park district.
- Checks that pass-holders passes are valid before entering the pool.
- Takes customers payments for pool gate fees and makes correct change when needed.
- Assures that customers are provided with excellent customer service.
- Completes financial close-outs, follows cash control procedures, each shift to be approved by the pool manager on duty.
- Prepares and counts cash register(s) banks at beginning and end of shifts.
- Prepares bank bags and deposit tickets and delivers them to the Fitness Center drop safe.
- Notifies Recreation and Aquatics Supervisor and/or Facility Coordinator of needed bank, equipment or office supplies and repairs.
- Replenishes copies of color-coded close-out forms when needed and keeps them organized in the pool desk files.
- Makes sure gate desk area is clean before, during and the end of shifts.
- Promotes and performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Park District’s safety program.
- Dresses appropriately in proper work uniform.
- Assists where necessary.

Must work under the direction of supervisors.
May have to work under stressful and/or emergency situations.
Must enforce Park District policies and rules.
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
May spend portions of their shift standing and walking
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
Must be able to hear conversational voice with or without a hearing aid.
Must be able to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
Must be able to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Will be exposed to cleaning supplies.
COGNATIVE CONSIDERATIONS:
Must possess good safety awareness and judgment.
Must possess problem solving skills.
Requirements
Seasonal Registrars must have experience in typing, computer work, customer service, and the skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school or better. Must also have knowledge of office/clerical procedures and have excellent written and verbal skills. This position must also be able to deal effectively with the public, be highly organized, type at a satisfactory rate of speed and be able to obtain information and give explanations of rules and regulations.
