What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025-26 Speech and Language Pathologist position at Norris Elementary School District?
JOB SUMMARY
Screens students to determine the need for speech and language therapy services; provides speech and language therapy consistent with student’s IEP; assists in the coordination of services for identified students; works collaboratively with regular education staff and special education staff; assists in other school programs as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Credential: Appropriate California credential(s).
2. Education: Master’s Degree preferred.
3. Minimum Experience: Successful experience/training in the assessment, diagnosis, and intervention with individuals with communicative disabilities; successful experience in effectively communicating (orally and in writing) assessment results and intervention strategies; successful experience in working cooperatively with students, staff, and parents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION
Screens students, reviews referrals and assesses or assists in the assessment of referred students to determine present performance levels.
In coronation with the School Site Principal and/or Resource Specialist arranges for the appropriate consent and assessment forms to be signed by parents; arranges for IEP dates and invites appropriate persons to attend.
Consults with parents, appropriate school staff, and other professional personnel in relation to student assessment.
Writes assessment reports.
Develops/assists in developing annual
Serves as a member and may chair IEP meetings.
Schedules identified students for speech and language therapy; provides speech and language therapy as scheduled.
Maintains student records in accordance with state, federal, and local regulations.
Adheres to all required special education timelines including, but not limited to, referrals, testing, placement, IEP meetings, and reevaluation of students.
