Position Summary:
The Ground Utility Field Laborer performs a variety of manual tasks to support construction and utility installation projects, including excavation, trenching, pipe laying, site clean-up, and equipment handling. This role works primarily outdoors and supports foremen and operators in completing daily work assignments safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with digging, grading, trenching, and backfilling for utility installation such as water, sewer, gas, and storm drains.
- Install and align pipe systems and related components under supervision.
- Operate hand and power tools such as shovels, rakes, compactors, and saws.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at the job site.
- Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to carry out work assignments on time.
- Support equipment operators by spotting and signaling when necessary.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Perform daily safety checks and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous 3 years of experience in construction or utility work is required.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are required.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn on the job.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
- Must be able to follow directions and work as part of a team.
- Safety-focused mindset and knowledge of basic job site safety practices.
- Working Conditions: Outdoor job sites include dirt, mud, heat, cold, and uneven terrain.
- Exposure to heavy equipment, dust, noise, and other construction conditions.
- The standard work week is Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime or weekend hours as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
