Norstrem Associates recruits key professionals for growing companies throughout Central Florida. We are one of the most established and longstanding boutique firms in Florida and have been working with upwardly mobile professionals since 1998. Due to expansive growth, another growing Tampa Bay area client has engaged us to recruit a driven professional for a Controller role.
Working closely with the CEO and reporting to the CFO, Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting, treasury, and tax functions. The role will be highly visible within the executive team and require superior communication skills. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to help lead this company to its next level.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain policies and procedures designed to keep books and records GAAP compliant and audit-ready
- Manage working capital, ensuring the accuracy weekly cash requirement reports and overseeing the timely and appropriate handling of disbursements
- Maintain high-quality design and operation of internal controls over all accounting processes, including but not limited to cash disbursements, receipts, record keeping, reconciliation, and financial reporting
- Produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements
- Work with external auditors and tax preparers ensuring timely handling of data requests so that they can complete their work on time and efficiently
- Maintain keen awareness of purchasing & inventory levels and their impact on the company's cash flow management
- Ensure team is properly trained and developed in the handling of their tasks
- Work with operational leadership team in leading finance & accounting function through an ERP implementation
- Optimize technology to increase automation and efficiency
- Articulate results clearly to various levels of management as needed
Required:
- 6 years of accounting leadership experience; public accounting & industry mix with prior controllership experience preferred
- CPA certification required, MBA preferred
- Demonstrated thorough understanding of GAAP
- Prior energy sector experience is preferred
- Strong computer skills to include ERP maximization and MS Office applications (advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Prior ERP implementation mandatory
- Ability and willingness to perform detail-oriented work when necessary
- Experience collaborating and team building, with and without direct reporting lines
- Ability to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience
- Ability to articulate problems while at the same time proposing workable solutions
- Ability to work “in office” and start in the near term. This is NOT a remote role. There is no relocation for this role. Out-of-market candidates will not be considered nor will they receive any response to application.
Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
