R&D Manager

POSITION TITLE: R&D Manager

This role will be hybrid in Tualatin, OR and will require relocation within 90 days of beginning the position.

Position Summary:

Identify and bring products to market as quickly and efficiently as possible to maximize revenues. The R&D Manager is expected to drive the necessary programs and projects that support the company’s position as a leader in custom air handling solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and formulating aspects of research and development proposals to advance the company’s technology and industry leadership.
• Manage in-house and outside technical experts to form a cohesive team to meet the company’s growth and product innovation expectations.
• Firm understanding of customer requirements and regulatory agencies.
• Organize and implement strategies to minimize time to market and maximize profitability.
• Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparing records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, to inform management of the status of each project.
• Analyze submitted proposals to determine if benefits and possible applications justify expenditures. Recommend feasible proposals to higher management for consideration and allocation of funds from the department budget.
• Liaise with customers and marketing and sales teams to define specifications and performance criteria.
• Conduct reviews for departmental staff.
• Maintain regular contact with company management on the status of projects and probability of success.
• Motivate team members to elevate their individual and collective performance expectations.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful track record in developing commercially viable products for market.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct problem-solving with product design and/or manufacturing industry.
• Experience in CFD and FEA for airflow and structure.
• Previous managerial experience preferred.

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; advanced technical degree a plus.
• Professional Engineering License preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design to manufacturing project management.
