Position Summary:

Nortek Air Solutions is seeking a highly motivated mid-senior level Acoustical Engineer to join their Oklahoma based engineering. With a focus on acoustics and vibrations you will work with our team and a wide range of customers, consultants, suppliers, distributors, and strategic partners. The successful candidate will take an active role in modeling, prototyping, evaluating, testing, and collaborating with others to explore and demonstrate solutions and concepts critical to the future of our business. Additionally, the successful candidate will also participate in hands-on testing of custom equipment designed to meet the stringent requirements of our customers and high-end clients in our world-class R&D facilities.

Position Responsibilities:

The Acoustical Engineer will work within a team environment to create innovative technologies and solutions with a focus on acoustical and vibration engineering related to commercial and industrial HVAC systems. Immediate tasks will include acoustical analysis of custom products, evaluation of potential acoustic technologies, and data acquisition and processing of acoustic and vibration data obtained through equipment testing.

• Ability to handle confidential R&D projects appropriately
• Interest in research and development
• Strong aptitude in acoustical engineering
• Excellent computer skills
• Proficient with numerical analysis
• Experience with laboratory equipment
• Good documentation, project management, and organization skills
• Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• Strong aptitude and interest in acoustics, with a preference given to those with 5 years of Acoustical Engineering experience in HVAC, Architectural, or Acoustical Test Lab environments

Preferred:

• Experience with HVAC system design
• Familiarity with CFD / FEA – ANSYS Simulations
• Familiarity with HVAC industry test standards and societies, specifically: AMCA, ASHRAE, AHRI
• Familiarity with acoustical instrumentation and laboratory equipment, specifically Brüel & Kjær and National Instruments products
• Master of Science degree in Acoustical Engineering, Physics, or related field
