Position: High School Math Teacher
Requirements: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate for posted position
Reports to: Principal
Supervises: Students
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach the required skills in the assigned teacher areas in connection with district and state guidelines using district provided curriculum resources.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepare appropriate weekly and daily lesson plans to be adjusted as necessary.
- Individualize course material as needed to accommodate the wide range of abilities.
- Provide students with clearly stated learning targets and success criteria that demonstrate how a student is going to be assessed and graded.
- Assess the students on a regular basis, adjust lessons based on formative feedback and provide progress reports as required.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Collaborate regularly with all other members of the educational community.
- Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional growth activities (staff development, graduate work, involvement in professional organizations, conferences, etc.)
- Actively participate in school-wide and district-wide initiatives.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Maintain proper professional conduct.
- Regular attendance is an essential part of employment.
- Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the building administrator.
