Job Description

The Surgical Assistant plays a critical role in providing exceptional patient care, resulting in the best clinical outcomes and meeting patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.
- Verify patient identity and operative sites.
- Discuss surgical procedures with surgeons, including operative consent and exposure methods.
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
- Ensure an unobstructed operative field using retractors, sponges, and suctioning equipment.
- Check availability of necessary equipment and supplies for procedures.
- Obtain and inspect sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies.
- Operate sterilization devices.
- Monitor patient status during procedures.
- Take dental radiographs and imaging.
- Complete patient narratives.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required or obtainable within 1 month of hire.
- At least one year of related experience preferred.
- DAANCE certification preferred.
- Licensed dental assistant preferred.
- Radiology certification preferred.
