Summer Intern Student

Job Summary

This internship is designed for students currently pursuing a two- or four-year degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Candidates should have completed a portion of their curriculum and plan to complete their program after the intern experience. The work will be performed at a surface lignite coal mine.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and assist with information systems and technology-related functions.
• Maintain the integrity of the systems by upholding all NAC security measures.
• Provide technical assistance to all users of information systems.
• Offer computer support, including installation of application software, hardware and software assistance to users, and setup of PC hardware and software.
• Perform duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Customer service-oriented individual with a strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and a creative and innovative attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision.
• Thorough understanding of computer systems and Microsoft operating systems and applications.
• Commitment to protecting the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Ability to take direction in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Requirements:
Enrolled in a computer science, information technology, or related program and in good academic standing.
