Our Opportunity
North American Lighting (NAL) is looking for a Logistics Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the effective use of logistics management and freight utilization techniques in order to maximize use of transportation resources for NAL. These responsibilities include management and control of the shipment and delivery of all materials, suppliers, tooling and equipment from the company’s supply base.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Your Priorities
- Investigates and develops a comprehensive understanding and conducts periodic reviews of the movement of NAL in-bound components and materials to verify current truck utilization rates and make recommendations where necessary to adjust or modify the various freight lanes to increase efficiency.
- Review and track NAL milk run trucks (MRT) and implement initiatives aimed at reducing the frequency.

Review long term MRT utilization for new launches including:
- Aiding buyers for best sourcing and maintaining optimal truck utilization.
- Quoting new or modified truck routes with 3PL.
- Record blow-outs (excess freight) and determine opportunities to reduce incidents and frequency.
- Review MRT forecast utilization to determine if blowouts will occur on a daily basis.
- Track and send monthly reports to top suppliers with SDC issues. Assist in long term countermeasures with suppliers and buyer.
Requirements
Your Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, or related field, plus 0 to 2 years of related experience OR
- Associate’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, or related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of related experience.
