Client Overview :
Our Client is the largest manufacturer of their product in the United States and it was founded in 1895. Since the construction of a new facility in 1998 most of their production has been automated.
Position Summary :
A Production Planner, or Production Scheduler, manages the scheduling and timeliness of the production process to ensure the company meets all deadlines. Their duties include managing material and equipment availability, scheduling production and monitoring the production process for problems. The Production Planner is responsible for :
Planning raw materials and production,
Ordering materials,
Providing guidance to the shop floor Supervisors and Managers on flow, inventory, rework, and other information related to the timely completion of orders.
This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager as part of the plant's Supply Chain team and this position has NO supervisor responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of Plant Production Planner :
A Production Planner ensures the production process goes smoothly by making sure all of the appropriate parts are in place and ready to go. Some of the typical Production Planner job duties and responsibilities include
Perform daily review of active work orders and take action to ensure proper product flow through the factory
Monitor production reporting in Data Acquisition System daily, advising Supervisors and Managers of adjustments needed to reflect accurate production reporting
Monitor work-in-process inventory levels to ensure sufficient (but not excessive) quantities to effectively execute the production schedule
Communicate with the Supply Chain Manager, Sales Team, and Inside Sales as necessary regarding order status and manufacturing delays
Communicate production schedule, manufacturing delays, future manpower needs, and overtime suggestions
Ensure work orders are dated accurately and completed work orders are closed each week
Disposition non-conforming product and follow up to ensure it is released, scrapped, cross-applied, reworked, and / or remade as instructed
Monitor slow-moving, surplus, and obsolete inventory to ensure it is properly consumed, scrapped, re-worked, cross-applied, and / or reserved by Finance as needed
True-up raw material inventories in system weekly
Plan raw material and subassembly needs and provide purchase orders to suppliers
Follow up on open purchase orders as needed with suppliers
Required Qualifications of the Plant Production Planner :
Required :
Three to five years of related experience in production and / or materials planning (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Preferred :
Four-year degree in a business or technical field
Use of a finite scheduling system
Working knowledge of Lean and Six-Sigma tools
Work Environment / Physical Demands :
Fast-paced and hectic work environment where speed, accuracy, and multi-tasking is required routinely
Regular electronic interaction with internal and external business partners
Regular in-person interaction with other team members
Job can require unexpected overtime depending on the daily needs and work volume
Compensation :
Base Salary, DOE, between $70-80 K. Excellent benefits, 401K.
