Rolling Mill Technician

North American Stainless is seeking a skilled Rolling Mill Technician to join our team.

Job Summary

The Rolling Mill Technician will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the rolling mill, ensuring high-quality products are produced while meeting productivity goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Roll Shop Shift Leader and Group Leader to assemble guides for upcoming dimension changes and backup rolls for current product.
• Work collaboratively as a member of the crew, communicating effectively with colleagues throughout the day.
• Retrieve necessary rolls and components from inventory, staging them for assembly while following set-up procedures and safety protocols.
• Dismantle and reassemble roll units to desired dimensions and set-ups.
• Utilize JSA's, flowcharts, set-up sheets, and checklists to ensure proper stand and equipment setup.
• C Coordinate roll setups to meet the needs of the rolling mill and forward rolling schedule.
• Be adequately cross-trained in all areas of roll shop duties to step in and fulfill other responsibilities when necessary.
• Keep accurate documentation for maintenance scheduling of equipment.
• Inspect and replace worn or malfunctioning components and seals.

• Operate overhead crane and forklift safely.
• Use mechanical hand tools and measuring devices accurately.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and safety behaviors.
• Assist rolling mill crews during changeovers and mill adjustments as needed by supervision.
• Promote a clean and organized work area.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in rolling mill operations or related industry.
• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of metalworking and fabrication techniques.
