Pre-Teach Math This Summer with TCP!
(8th Pre-Algebra, 9th Grade Geometry)
LOCATION: North Andover Public Schools
CONTENT: Pre-Teach math to middle or high school students
RATE: $45/hour (for 5 hours/day, 5 days/week over three weeks - $3,375 Total)
HOURS: 9am - 2pm daily
DATES: July 7 - 25, 2025
About TCP
The mission of The Calculus Project is to use research-supported strategies to increase the representation and success of Black, Hispanic and low-income students in advanced mathematics. There are seven distinct components that support students year-round, and one of these is pre-teaching in the summer.
About the Position
Teachers who thrive at TCP love kids, are dedicated to their craft, embrace feedback, and constantly seek to build connections. As a summer teacher you will have 20-25 students and you will pre-teach the skills and concepts that they will be learning in the first semester in the fall. You will have a partner teacher as well as student peer teachers to support your work. In addition to teaching mathematics the teacher will chaperone students on field trips and will teach team building and career exploration activities planned by TCP. Teachers can work one or both of the two sessions.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement math curriculum with middle or high school students
- Maintain regular communication with program supervisor and parents regarding student progress
- Develop formative and summative measurement tools to better evaluate student progression
- Attend a paid workshop on planning and developing curricula and lessons
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Teaching experience and experience working with adolescents preferred
- Experience working effectively with students and staff of various cultures and linguistic backgrounds
- Creativity and ability to foster curiosity and excitement about learning mathematics
