Dietary Aide Job Summary:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting residents
fulfill specific dietary requirements to promote their health and wellbeing. In
addition to this, they would be assisting the Dietary Manager in planning,
organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary
Services Department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and
local standards, guidelines, and regulations, established facility policies and
procedures, to ensure that quality food service and nutritional care is
provided.
Dietary Aide Major Duties and Critical Tasks:
1.
Their duties include preparing and
cooking food dishes, delivering food to patients and assisting the kitchen
staff in maintaining a clean, sanitary workplace
2.
Review department policies,
procedures, manuals, position descriptions, at least annually and participates
in making recommended changes to stay current on facility protocols
3.
Interprets policies and procedures to
personnel, patients/residents, visitors, family members, as necessary.
4.
Preparing meals, snacks and beverages
following specific procedures
5.
Serving meals, ensuring food safety
and hygiene procedures are followed at all times
6.
Taking inventory of kitchen supplies
and food items
7.
Setting up and taking down dining
areas and assisting with kitchen maintenance and general cleaning
8.
Assisting with educational programs
on nutrition
Dietary Aide Required Education/Skills/Abilities:
Education: Must possess as a minimum, a high school
diploma;
Experience: Previous experience as a Dietary Aide is preferred. Bonus experience includes training in cost control, food
management, or diet therapy. Any combination of experience and training which
provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities of a Dietary Aide in a skilled nursing facility.
Must have reliable transportation.
