Description

1:1 Bus Aide - Substitute

• Assist the bus driver in maintaining safe student conduct on the bus.
• Assist student in getting on and off the bus.
• Provide assistance to student boarding and exiting the bus.
• Assist driver in assuring student depart the bus in an orderly fashion.
• Provide assistance (if needed) securing student in appropriate restraints.
• Collect items left on bus by student and take to the Transportation Office.
• Assist and support with safety and health protocols of student. Specific training will be provided by district staff in accordance to the student's needs (such as asthma, diabetes, seizure, etc.)
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
  
  

Job Summary

To assist in the safe and efficient transportation of student to and from school activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Certification by the Illinois State Coard of Education as a state and NCLB approved paraprofessional (Minimum of 60 credit hours or passage of Para Pro Prxis Test)
• Ability to work effectively with students and adults.
• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Physical ability to lift students weighing 50lbs. or less
• Responsible attitude toward the safety and well being of student.
  
  

Terms and Condiditons

Placement on non-certified support staff schedule, depending on college credit and/or training experience.
